Vision Trip this Fall
Interested in seeing the work of Youth Impact first hand? We are leading a vision trip November 27 – December 6, 2018. Please let us know at [email protected] if you would like to receive future details about the trip.

Youth Impact Impacting Lives
This past Sunday, two of the girls who Youth Impact raised for the last sixteen years graduated with accounting degrees. There are two more girls graduating in two weeks with law and nursing degrees. All four lost their parents and were raised by Youth Impact. They are also Milagros scholarship beneficiaries. Abraham thanks you for partnering with Youth Impact to invest in their lives.

University of Kentucky Athletes visit Youth Impact
Youth Impact once again hosted athletes from the University of Kentucky in June led by Jason Schlafer, Executive Associate Athletic Director at the University of Kentucky. Hiwoku from Youth Impact reported that the UK team came and served along with visitors from ministry called Ordinary Hero, who came to learn from our experience in mentoring young people.

“With this team, we had a wonderful time and the children loved it very much. We had time to hear stories from our children and also from the visitors. We played outdoor games, sang songs, prayed together and also had lunch together. One of our children named Ararso presented part of the Bible (Psalms 23:1-6) without reading, just by memorizing it verse-by-verse and word-by-word. One of our Mentor in Hope House named Dereje (who lived on the street formerly) is also a Gospel singer and he has now completed his first full album of Christian songs. He also sang a song from his new album with children to the visitors.”

Visitors from Maine
Pastor Jerry and his family also came to visit Youth Impact in June. Hiwoku reported that Pastor Jerry asked children if they know their birthday, but most of them don’t know their birth date at all. He told them about birthday parties in his culture, and how they remind people that they were created by God for His purposes. So he asked children if they want to have birthday party with the same purpose and all of them replied “yes.” As they are finalizing their baptism lesson with the nearby church and getting baptized soon, they unanimously decided their birthday to be on the day of their baptism. Pastor Jerry gave them some money so that they can buy cakes and celebrate the day. Now they are eagerly waiting for the day of their baptism and birthday party together.

Recent Go Fund Me Fundraiser
Elisabeth Joakim, with Curtis Lake Maine church, set up a fundraiser on Go Fund Me to benefit Youth Impact. She committed to shaving her head if the goal of $2,500 was met.  $2,745 was raised and so here she is, keeping her end of the bargain. Thank you Elisabeth!

More updates from Hiwoku of Youth Impact
“Overall, our children in all centers are growing in maturity, physically, mentally and spiritually. During the first week of June, about 12 students have taken national exams to join senior high schools as well as collages/universities in the coming September 2018.

“Youth Impact is also having discussions and consultations with Board Members and other bodies on the establishment of its Integrated Spiritual Service Center. We are also preparing a guest house with the aim of making our visitors stay with us more memorable and fruitful with least cost along with raising fund to support our activities. The guest house will have a capacity of accommodating up to 15 guests in bank beds and with all necessary facilities. It will have its first guests in September 2018.

Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement. We could not do this ministry without you and we love that you have chosen to walk alongside us on this journey!”

New Logo and Organization Update
Thank you to Glenn Hutcheson who designed the Ethiopian Impact logo and donated his time and creativity. We now have something to help brand Ethiopian Impact, the US-based fundraising arm for Youth Impact in Ethiopia. Along those lines, all our documents have been submitted to the IRS and now we wait and pray all will be approved.

Abraham Fiseha, co-founder of Youth Impact, will be in Kentucky for a short visit this summer as he and Salem visit their children in Texas and Vancouver. We hope to have a gathering during the week of August 13-17 in Stanford, Kentucky for those who want to see Abraham and Salem. If you are interested, click here
